I partnered with One Tree Planted to plant trees!
There's nothing better than sitting down to read a good book. I read a lot of fiction on the Kindle App on my iPhone. However, I still like to buy real books. And I like to write books.
Since books are made of paper, and we still rely heavily on trees to make paper, I could no longer ignore the impact my love of reading and writing was having on our planet.
What to do?
I now plant one TREE for every one of my self-published Journals for adults and Workbooks for kids
You're probably thinking, nice idea, Marci, but how are you going to make that happen?
I can't solve all the environmental problems, but I can make an impact one tree at a time. I committed to planting one tree for every Journal I publish. My goal is to plant at least 1,000 trees every year, and I partnered with One Tree Planted to make it happen.
About One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife.
Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. To learn more, visit onetreeplanted.org
Planting trees is one of the best nature-based solutions to restoring forests, sequestering carbon, and mitigating the effects of climate change. But it's not the ONLY solution! The team at One Tree Planted is the first to acknowledge that conservation, fossil fuel reduction, and renewable energy are also important.
We all know that the climate crisis is big and it may sometimes feel as though one tree won't make much of a difference, but it does! Putting all those trees together creates forests to benefit people, nature, and wildlife for years to come.
It's true that I live in Japan, but the people that buy my books and sign up for my services live all over the world. One Tree Planted works with a global network of partners who are knowledgeable about local ecology. They only plant local tree species, grown in nearby nurseries, and planted when conditions are optimal for tree survival.
Not enough! This year, I started publishing journals for adults and drill books for kids. I plant 1 tree for every book I publish. I also plant 1 tree for every book that is purchased from me. My goal is to plant at least 1,000 trees every year.
You can help today by visiting onetreeplanted.org. Every $1 USD you donate will plant one tree, this is consistent for all projects and regardless of donation size.
