Moonset and Birdsong
On my way home yesterday I was listening to an episode of Entrepreneur on Fire, a great daily podcast by John Lee Dumas. His guest, Sandra Singh, shared a quote and I knew immediately it was the new one for this week.
“Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.” – Rabindranath Tagore
I went to sleep last night excited to get up and write a post about the new quote. This morning, very early, I awoke to birdsong. (Click here to listen. Turn up the volume and be sure to listen for the crows at :32!) If you can believe it, my clock read 3:57. I looked out the window to the west where I can see Mt. Fuji. For a moment I was disoriented because it looked like the sun was setting. I was wrong. The full moon was hanging low in the sky. A half-hour later, the sky turned pink and the moon hung over Mt. Fuji. Although my camera doesn’t truly do it justice, I took a panorama of what I see from my living room. It reminded me of another quote from Tagore:
THE day breaks in the east, like a bud bursting its sheath to come out in flower. But if this fact belonged only to the outside world of events, however, could we find our entrance into it? It is a sunrise in the sky of our consciousness, it is a new creation, fresh in bloom, in our life. – Tagore

About the Author:
Hi! I’m Marci. I’ve lived in Japan for over 30 years, blending tech, language, and healing in my work. Through caregiving for my father-in-law with Alzheimer’s and supporting my husband’s cancer recovery, I discovered the importance of yoyu—having the time, energy, and emotional reserves to thrive. Now, I share these insights through writing, coaching, and creative projects. My upcoming memoir, Otosan, tells the story of those five transformative years. Let’s connect and create more yoyu in our lives!
