Why I stopped offering intuitive messages as a stand-alone service

Why I no longer offer intuitive messages as a stand-alone service

When I first started consciously working with spirit guides, I wanted to share their messages with everyone. I created a website and started offering intuitive readings as a service. You could even order these personalized intuitive messages as a gift.

I was so excited about sharing the messages that I held a drawing once a month, and one lucky person got an intuitive message for free.

Then, within a few months, I stopped offering intuitive messages as a service.

And you might wonder why.

Did something go terribly wrong?

Did I lose my connection to spirit?

Was I worried about charging money for intuitive work?

The answer is no.

It was a decision I didn’t take lightly, but it’s one that made sense for my business. In this blog post, I will go through why I stopped offering intuitive messages as a service.

You can work with your own spirit guides

We've all had those days when we can't find our connection to a higher power, and being able to lean on another person saves us. I loved serving others in this way by allowing spirit to speak through my fingers and onto the keyboard.

However, my gift is not unique. We all have the power to connect with our own source of guidance.

Almost every time I sent out a message, people would write back wanting to know more about the process. When did I start doing it? How did I learn how?

There are hundreds, probably thousands of books on channeling, using your intuition, and automatic writing. There wasn't anything I could teach my clients that hadn't already been written about, but I still loved answering questions and sharing my perspective. The more people asked, the more I wrote.

The more I wrote, the stronger I felt about empowering people to find their own connection with their spirit guides. The best way I knew how to do that is to share examples of what I really do in different areas of my life and business.

For example, I recently shared how I apply my connection with spirit guides to web design and listed many ways for how you, too, can work with spirit guides on your website.

Working with spirit is a daily practice, and though I don't offer the messages as a service, I often share about them in my newsletter. I strongly encourage you to find your own unique way of co-creating with spirit and, if you need inspiration, consider signing up for my newsletter.

Choosing to work with yoyū

The other reason I stopped offering intuitive messages as a stand-alone service was part altruistic and part selfish - I wanted to benefit as many people as possible while protecting my yoyū.

Yoyū is a Japanese word used in daily conversation to indicate your wherewithal regarding time, money, energy, etc. Learning to manage my yoyū was critical during the years I took care of my father-in-law and helped my husband recover from cancer.

I decided that rather than serving a few individuals, I would write about my experience so that I could eventually share it with many. So I quit offering the intuitive messages and focused on writing a memoir. (Learn more about my upcoming book, Finding Yoyū.)

Could I have written the book and continued offering intuitive messages? Probably. However, I didn't feel like I had the mental yoyū to do both.

In fact, intuitive messages weren't the only service I stopped offering. At the time, I also pushed pause on my coaching packages and the course I wanted to build, even though I had the first module ready to go.

Because my family needed so much of my time and energy, I streamlined my business so that I could include the best of me in one service - web design.

Through web design, I used my intuitive hits to help my clients. I was able to make tutorials that fed my desire to build a course. And, I spent a lot of time coaching my clients into showing up online with the website we had co-created.

One of the important takeaways from that challenging time in my life was that just because I can do something doesn't mean I have to do it. Or, that I have to do it all right now.

It's OK to choose not to do something. It's OK to put some things on hold.

What's next?

Hopefully, you have more of an understanding of why I decided to quit offering intuitive messages as a stand-alone service.

I would still absolutely love to work with you. At the moment, web design is my main offering. I'll help you discover a new way to unite your spirit with your work, and together we'll create (or recreate!) your website. If this sounds like something you want to do, let's talk.
