Expansion sounds a little scary. Practicing something new and unfamiliar though is a good idea and something we were really good at doing when we were kids.

For the last few years I’ve been deep in learning and creating. I confess, learning a new skill is like a drug for me. I love taking courses and adding new skills to my toolkit. I’m comfortable with the cycle of discovering a new skill, exploring it’s practical use and challenging myself to master it. I’m good with this cycle. Yep, it feels like an old pair of jeans – comfortable and safe.

What I’m not so comfortable with is telling others how I’ve added a new skill to my wheelhouse. I’m not so comfortable with promoting myself, growing my audience, marketing my services, or expanding my sphere of influence. And yet, it doesn’t serve me or anyone if I constrain my energy and withhold my gifts.

I didn’t realize it and I’m grateful to my guides for pointing out that I need to make it a practice. I need to practice exercising my expansion muscle. This suggestion to practice exercising my expansion came at the end of a recent message from my guides. Here is an excerpt:

There is a rising energy in you and others around you and there will be times you need to rest. You may find you need more rest than before and this is not unusual. Do not hesitate to rest. Do not hesitate to nap and to sit still. Your ability to expand your energy and use it to heal in greater ways is changing, shifting and as you move into this larger – though you have always been large – as you move into this expanded field your physical body may need more rest. It is not a forever thing. You will experience this for a few months and then you will have much more energy. Keep doing what you do in terms of food and exercise. We do not ask you to make any changes at this time. You are on a path and serving your body well now. Expand. Practice exercising your expansion.

 
So, what am I doing specifically to exercise my expansion? Taking more naps, of course! Though I did give myself permission to rest more, I’ve also been exploring the frequency and way in which I channel messages. Perhaps more importantly, I’ve been experimenting with how it feels to share the messages with more people. I’ve started sharing them on Instagram and plan to add more in the coming weeks.
